Homemade Education

Never have I thought that Malcolm X read the entire dictionary and memorized and wrote down each word in it. I'm actually extremely impressed with his determination to become more knowledgeable to the world around him. He had his struggles in his early years in his life but came out on top. I believe that everything happens for a reason, maybe somehow it was meant for him to go to prison so he could learn more about life and his intelligence. Obviously reading will help create and open up new doors of understanding. He practice and reviewed the dictionary each day. He would learn and memorize a page and write down the words on his templet so he could look over them.
My Aunt would read books to my little cousin each morning and night of the day. She push my little cousin to read and read. My aunt has been reading books to her since she was born. Now my little cousin who is in the fifth grade is probably smarter than me. All she wants to do is to read books. She asks to go to the library each night to get a different book because she reads one in a day. I have never see anything like this, she also ask to only have books for her birthday. Wow thats crazy to me I don't know about you, I never read books when i was little. I was always outside playing in the mud or running around playing sports. I need to start reading a lot more so I can become like my little cousin.

I believe that reading helps broaden your vocabulary greatly, but I have never really done that much reading in my life. It disappoints me that I haven't, now its the time to start. I learned that from this reading that anything is possible. A man that was imprisoned for robbery became inspired to become more intellectual with his words and writings. He was constantly reading he couldn't get the books out of his mind. Even when he wasn't reading books or the dictionary he was reading the words on the walls when he laid in bed. This man made a 180 degree turn in his life. He change his thinking by reading and that amazes me. I hope that one day i could do the same, teach myself all the words in the dictionary and write them down and review them each day.

  1. I love your story about your niece. It connects your life to the reading well. I also like your new format. Nice.

You still have quite a bit of summary, but you're making great improvements.
